i currently have a 2.6 gpa i need a 3.0 : (

Hi I’m a current student attending PCC and i have a 2.6 GPA with about 40 units. I I’m hoping to raise it to at least 3.0 so i can join the TAG program and be accepted to a UC (mainly UCSD). I was wondering realistically what kinda grades i need to get; to get that 3.0 Thanks

if you dont have a 3.0 at the time of applying, i dont think you can TAG. Im not positive though, check with the school.

you’re asking a forum of people who know nothing about how many units you’re taking, how many prereqs you’ve done, what your major is, when you will finish IGETC, and what your grade trends are like?

If you’re applying to UC’s in this cycle, you will not be accepted to any TAG programs and most likely not to any UC’s. Your GPA is too low for the minimum requirement and UCSD’s filling period for fall is over at the end of the month, you cannot raise your GPA before then.

[Let me google that for you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=tag+deadline+university+of+california)

google is a really good tool, you should use it…

if you really have your heart set on going to UCSD you should stay an extra semester/year and get your GPA up to a 3.0. You’ll see on the TAG matrix, that SD accepts winter transfers, if you can get your GPA up to scratch by then you may have a chance.

If you feel as though this task is too monumental or you don’t feel like staying any longer at CC you should think about going to a CSU, their standards for accepting students are much lower.

But most importantly, you should go talk to a counselor.

Your GPA can be calculated by taking the sum of your units and grades multiplied together and dividing that total by the sum of your units.

You can use this formula to find out what you need:

(40*2.6 + x * y)/(40 + x) = z

x is the number of units you will take between now and your TAG.
y is the average GPA you expect.
z is the resulting GPA.

Using this, if you average 3.5 for every semester, it will take you 32 units to come back to a 3.0. This can be done in time for Fall assuming that you get this average this semester and Spring.

If you can pull out a 4.0 semester you would be done in just 16 units.

hmmm I think you can still qualify for UCSD tag if you pull it up by the end of the fall semester. Just be sure to check the ucsd tag on the application anyway it is worth a shot… if worse comes to worst… just appeal… the dead for appealing is may 23rd or somewhere after that.

put all your units and grades in, put in the units of future classes, and check class by class how each future class you take will affect your GPA toward your goal of a 3.0.

thanks guys good info this semester I’m probably going to get straight A’s or A and B’s so thanks a lot. i was taking pcc classes during high school so when i transferred to pcc it messed up my GPA but thanks a lot guys
