I have requested to go part time and if that is not an option, I will retire in the fall. Whew!
Wishing you the best, VaBluebird!
My best friend did that last September - she called it phased retirement. She was supposed to work half time for three years and then retire. She isn’t going finish the last two years. She’s retiring in May. I am jealous.
Excellent! Looking forward to updates!
Awesome!
That’s great. So what are your hopes with your new freedom? Any fun hobbies you put off?
Congrats!
Celebrate! I did the same about a year and a half ago. Great decision!
This is wonderful news and enjoy the extra spring in your step!
Does it make a difference for your pension plan if you don’t complete the calendar year? My old company calculated pension based on the average salary of your last five years. I unknowingly quit in September and had taken previously taken a 4 month medical leave (not pensionable income).
Congratulations, VaBluebird!! What plans do you have for your added time?
Fabulous. When the right time comes along, you know it!
congrats! I have been on a reduced schedule for years and love it!
I do have a bucket list. But, first, I need to take care of my house by getting rid of a lot of accumulated “stuff”.
Piano lessons is on my list, as an example.
Congrats for taking the step!
How exciting – let us know when you hear back!
Congrats! Not only on your decision and new lifestyle but making that really hard decision! Guess you reached “the tipping point!” Enjoy.
Congrats. I am 5 or more years away, but starting to really think about retirement. I know multiple people who thought they wanted to do part time, but soon realized they were happy not working at all.
Today I told DH we need to figure out how to live without my $$. I am tired of it even though I work from home and work part time with good $$. We like to play a lot though.
Congratulations VaBluebird!!! what a lovely thing to do!
