<p>I recently took the SAT’s and got my results back…
I did O.K.
Not as good as I wanted to do. I wanted to do really good… the thing is, I didn’t study that much beforehand because I had heard that people do better when they don’t study. I am going to sign up again and take the SAT’s a second time - - I just have a few questions.</p>
<p>1) Will the colleges that I apply to see my first SAT scores (the O.K. ones) or can I send in my best scores?</p>
<p>2) Is it worth it to study/get a tutor or take a course? And which is better, studying on your own or having a tutor/course?</p>
<p>Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.</p>
<p>1) SAT does not have score choice. If you send one score you send them all - SAT I and SAT II’s (if any). So short answer - yes, they’ll see the first ones too.</p>
<p>2) That’s strictly a personal decision. Some kids can self-study; if you can, while going to school etc., try the Xiggi method (search for it on this site). Only you know how much studying you’ll actually do. If you do decide to get some help, I believe a tutor is a better bet, although probably more expensive than a course - you get to work on the things you need to work on, not what others in the class need.</p>
<p>All these questions are easily found in the forums, but easily answerable as well so here goes…</p>
<p>1) All your SAT scores show up on the report you send, so be careful about how many times you take the test. Three times is generally considered the maximum, so try to use those sparingly =)</p>
<p>2) That depends on where you are at. According to hearsay (I’ve never taken the class myself) if you’re at or under 1800, the class will do you good, but if you’re above that, say 2000s, you’d have better luck buying a book and preparing yourself.</p>
<p>I took a Kaplan SAT prep class (was signed up by my parents), and i know it is some well-known company and all… but from my personal experience, I would have to say it was a waste of 800 dollars</p>
