…i checked my email and just like i hoped… they said that i still have time to submit my application. Exactly how much time do i have? I dont want to submit a quick makeshift application. They sent the email to me about 3 hours ago… and even though i know i should submit it in asap, I have 100 pages of my Anatomy & Physiology textbook to read, followed by hw questions and studying for a quiz… & AP Calc Hw. Id rather not sacrifice my grade to just hand it in tonight. would they still take my application if i submitted it by tomorrow night?

P.S. all i really have to write is my Why Chicago Essay. I plan to recycle an essay which I used (think it’s a good and insightful essay) and just come up with the prompt.

If you want to go to Chicago, you HAVE to first apply. Don’t sweat one short essay. I wrote my Why Chicago essay the day I submitted it and got in EA.

Which one is more important to you? Finishing up assignments that account for only a percentage of two grades or finishing an application to a college where the experience will likely change the course of your life?

I am in a similar situation. I don’t whether to finish up my Chicago application (knowing that the late application will probably hurt my chances significantly) or just put all my efforts into making my Columbia application as flawless as possible.

If it were going to hurt your chances significantly, then they wouldn’t have emailed you. I missed the deadline for Stanford and got no email. They were obviously unwilling to take the application late.

And in the time it took you to write that post and make a decision, you could have had half your essay finished.

Here is the bottom line:

1) Chicago emailed you.

2) You only have one essay to write.

3) It’ll take maybe an hour to do if you’re productive. I bet you’ve spent an hour watching TV at some point over the last three days. I did mine in an hour and got in EA. Seriously, just do it. The best part is, is that if you don’t get in, you can blame it on being late instead of having to admit that they didn’t like your app. That’s a golden situation, there.

4) Chicago is amazing, and if you have a chance to apply, then you should do it. hands down.

Just surf the forums for inspiration if you’re stuck. (Just don’t copy anyone.)
