<p>so i’m doing a research paper regarding Christianity VS. Islam. And I’ve to demonstrate how Art/architecture, music, periodicals , poetry, and television has affected the relationship between Christians and Muslims. Now I can find television and all that on my own. But what i’m having trouble with is art/architecture and music (lyrics and specific lines). I assume college students listen to lots of music ( i only listen to classical, so that doesn’t help me). So can someone suggest some songs that my relate to christians and muslims, or just general “argument” type songs that have lines that may relate to the relationship between two religions?<br>
For the arts, art majors, please enlighten me, i shall I start? I know nothing about arts. I tried googling “arts” “muslim” “christian”, but it just showed up a bunch of mueseums’ opening hours…etc. BTW, it does not have to be specifically “muslim” or “christian”, just anything that have to do with their relationship. Thankyou very much!</p>
<p>When the crusaders went…uhh…crusading, they ended up bring back some knowledge of middle eastern architecture and some of it got incorporated into European buildings. You can look up what Muslim architecture generally looked like, then look up European architecture from before/after the crusades and see if you spot any influences. I don’t know of anything going in the reverse direction or anything from more modern times or even if that’s the sort of thing you’re looking for, but it’s a starting point for architecture. </p>
<p>Muslims don’t depict figures (people, animals, etc.) in their artwork/decoration so they do all these complex geometric patterns instead…Christians obviously don’t do the same. That doesn’t really have anything to do with a relationship between the two either, though.</p>

<p>Muslims, or more accurately, the Arabs invented algebra which was then introduced to Europe. That’s also how we got the name for algebra. The Arabs dominated Spain for quite a long time. During those years, they had a lot of influence on the region’s culture, architecture, language, cuisine…</p>
<p>Some of the greatest folks out there are research librarians. They specialize in helping people find information and, even better, helping them learn how to find information. If you are at a university, the university library should have plenty of research librarians. But many public librarians are also trained in this sort of work and could help you. If you can use a college/university library, that would probably be best for this topic, as the RL could show you how to search abstracts of scholarly papers, etc. Often those sources are not available through public libraries. And googling, as you’ve found, gives you too much undifferentiated information.</p>
