I really enjoyed the movie, but I still don’t get it. What exactly happened?

So there are these three laws, and Will Smith, not the girl who had less chance of survival, was saved by a robot, and he gets a robot arm.

But what’s up with the robots’ revolution??? I kind of thought that they wanted to save the humans from suiciding, etc., and there was a flaw in the laws and such…

I know why the new robots killed the old robots part, but I really am confused about the rest. Do explain!!!

edit:
and why did the robots try to kill will smith??? and why did the doctor kill himself? (or did he kill himself?)

They want to save the humans…the AI inside the robots evolved to something higher…and the VIKI program began thinking differently. She re-worked the laws into convincing herself that the robots should be ‘benevolent rulers’. Basically she determined that if humans keep going at the rate we’re going, we will kill ourselves…so the new NS-5’s should take over. The older robots which ran on a strict interpretation of the laws must be taken out. The movie was aight…but may I suggest the book…compared to the book, the movie was a bit of a dissapointment

ya…issac asimov

that movie looked like a tanker

y did the doctor kill himself?

The doctor killed himself because he was being monitored by the main computer in the building so he couldn’t warn everyone else. This is also why he left various clues behind.
And there isn’t actually a book per se as much as a collection of short stories written by Isaac Asimov known as I, Robot. The movie put them pretty well together all in all.
