analyzing?

nooo there is a specific word that includes all of the actions that you can do to make you a better reader.

Close reading?

Synthesize?
Comprehend?
Intuit?
Conceptualize?
Construe?
Apprehend?
Cognize?

there is 1 word that is specfically used for it! I know some people are smart here. It does not refer to a specific action like analyize. It inlcudes predictions, connections, questions, basically every thing you can do to make yourself a better reader. JUST 1 WORD… ugh. I really want to use this word in my essay that’s why. it is the perfect word.

Are you sure you’re not thinking of comprehension, or possibly contextualization?

nope. -_- Comeon, I know that this word has come up in many AP lit classes…

annotate? this is the action of making notes, but they will deal with the above and more
infer?

brainstorm?

active reading? errrr

Reading Strategies?

Thinking! ;)

Unfortunately, this doesn’t come up in a lot of lit classes. =(

critical reading

The first thing that came to mind was comprehension.
