So what do I put in for college?
Since he’s dead for some years now I can’t really ask him. My mother doesn’t remember, she only remembers that it was something equivalent to a bachelor’s or associate’s degree.
So what now? Can I just put unknown in there?

do you have any other relatives that would know?

If i’m not mistaken there may be some search engines where you can type in the name of an old classmate or a prospective employee, or in your case your father and check where they got their degrees. I’m not entirely sure about this, but i belief i’ve heard of it or something similar. You may even try googleing his name. well good luck

In theory some relatives who’d know exist, but the family situation is kind of complicated and I can’t really ask them.

I’ve already tried googeling him, but since his name is pretty common, I only came up with more than 350.000 results, so that’s a dead end.

To make matters worse I believe he got his degree from something similar online-college, only without the internet but by mail. I am not entirely sure though.

bump…

I don’t think it really matters all that much unless he went to Harvard or something and you’ll miss out on a legacy. You should just put unknown and maybe explain it in the additional info section.

A good general rule is to enter information you firmly believe to be accurate. If you don’t know – or the information is unknowable --the you can either enter the last school you know for sure your father attended or say “unknown”.

Okay thanks. Will enter “unknown” then.
