I don’t know if I fit here or not…. I am not that brave to stand first to talk to people. Loneliness started affecting my academic life now. I feel depressed for almost of the time. I don’t know how to hand out with either Chinese students, and how to hang out with American students either. I just have so much trouble to go start a talk with strangers. The first week of school already killed me.
Maybe things can become better in the future, but who knows?
Do not despair. Maybe the first thing you should do is go see the college counseling center – mental health professionals. They have help for you.
You may feel along right now, but you are not alone. Go as soon as possible to the mental health counseling center at your school.
It sounds as if you came from China to study in America. That’s a lot to get used to! I am not surprised that you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and sad. It’s very hard to do what you’re doing.
You’re handling so much right now. You are taking classes in another language. You are getting used to new food, new people, new weather, new culture and customs, new friends. Your parents are far away.
I promise you that it will bet better. But please go to the counseling center as soon as you can. They are there to help stressed-out students. They are professionals who know how to help you feel better.
Many freshman students have similar feelings right now.
Off course the things is gonna be better, study a lot and go to counceling center.
In few days you are gonna make friends and love your College.
You’re not alone – there are probably plenty students at your school who feel the same way. It can take a while to make friends, give yourself time & patience. And in the meantime, be nice to yourself!
