Back in Winter Quarter 2010, I took a five-credit course (PHIL 120: Intro to Logic), but because of difficulties I was having at the time, I had to drop it on the fifth week. Now there’s a big unsightly “W5” on my transcript that will never go away. However, I was wondering whether I would be able to retake it. First, would it even let me register for the class if it’s already been recorded on my transcript, or would that cause an error? Second, even if I do retake it and do very well, I don’t expect the W5 to disappear from the transcript. That being said, would it look like I “redeemed” myself and therefore look better if I went back and fixed my error? Or would it not matter and I should just stay away from this class? Thanks in advance.

You should directly contact the philosophy department or advising office. Very few of us, if at all, will be able to answer that question…
