I failed a non credit class, can I still get into a good college?

So 2010 I was going to do duel enrollment, I took my college placement test and tested into a developmental math class. I decided to take it that summer and completely failed it, I just didn’t care as much as I should have. I ended up dropping out of school to save funds (you can’t recieve financial aid while still in high school) I got my GED a month later and passed it with average scores. I was enrolled in two classes for Spring 2011, I passed them both. I’m finishing up two classes right now (Haven’t recieved my grades, but I passed them) Now I am looking to apply to colleges for Fall 2012. The colleges on my list have higher then a 75% acceptance rate. I finished high school with a 3.0. I’m not sure what my exact college GPA is going to be but it should be in the 3.0 range. I’m having a hard time dealing with the local community college - they do not want to help in any form and I don’t want to continue going there next semester. So my question is - Will failing a non credit course affect my admissions to fairly easy colleges to get into?

All I can tell you is, In your essay you should try to explain why you failed, something along the lines of financial difficulties or something. Failing always hurts your chances because even though the course is non credit, it shows up on your transcript. They will look at the grade you got in the class not how much credit or no credit it is. Also i believe in most colleges you can retake a certain amount of classes you failed and have that grade replace the one you previously got. You should look into that.

Im in the same boat right now. i currently have a 3.6 gpa (thats my transfer gpa) but I failed my first non-credit math class (i suck at math) How did it work out for you? where did you end up going?
