Well, with an overall 27% acceptance rate for males last year (oops, that is for 2011 grads), and SAT scores in the mid-50% range, I would guess you have a 27% chance of admission. It’s hard to feel confident with an acceptance rate so low.

I recognize my SATs are average at best for Wesleyan, but I figure my class rank and overall high school transcript are above par. I’ve already had an interview which I thought went well - very casual conversation. Maybe confident wasn’t the right term to use but I feel like my chances are at least better than a crap shoot. On a different note, does anyone know if being a resident of Connecticut would help or hurt my chances for Wesleyan? I was thinking hurt since the school prides itself on being so diverse, but who knows.

Actually, your SAT is some 40-50 points higher than the average among accepted applicants.

And… of the 73% who were rejected, probably most of them had SAT scores lower than yours; the 27% acceptance rate reflects all applicants, not just those who are in the 50th percentile of all accepted applicants.

You might have a 27% chance if, say, your SAT score were in the 25th percentile… but a 2130 is a good deal higher than the 25th percentile.

Who knows what the admins will be thinking when they (or he or she) review(s) your app, but on paper you have a decent shot. (IMO)

If you apply early decision i think you have a great chance! Do you htink we could pm talk about the interview? I’ll be doing one eventually and i was wondering what it would be like

Thanks for the feedback and @twang10 sure if you have any questions PM whatever you need.
