<p>I think the only thing holding me back are my grades and race, which is Asian (race not as much as grades).</p>
<p>I have gotten 5 semester B’s, all in STEM classes –> almost 3.9UW/almost 4.5W (I am a senior). My school is a pretty good school- I was not in the top 14% (for UC ELC) after first semester of junior year (I might be now since my UW gpa was a lower 3.8 then, but there are just a lot of competitive people here). We do not rank though, so colleges will not explicitly know that (unless UC).</p>
<p>Some of the better stuff:
-Many advanced courses
-SAT I: 800M —> 2300+ Composite
-SAT II: 800MII, 750+ Science Test
-Dedicated/unique extracurriculars, mostly STEM but also some focused humanities-related
-Female interested in engineering = +
-Some high-level, unique STEM awards (not research)</p>
<p>I just got rejected from the HMC Fall FAST Program; well, in general I do not think I am good enough for MIT/Caltech/HMC (or Stanford/Ivies, or UCB/UCLA). All the schools I think of I feel like are too good for me. But then the ones left seem like I could have gotten into doing way less work in the testing/ECs/essays dept. I do not really want to go to a school in the South. Where should I apply, and what would be my chances there? Thanks in advance!</p>
