I goofed up furniture dimensions for master bedroom!

@conmama

Ack! Yep. Know the feeling! Keep us posted!

I can’t wait to see how it turned out for you! I hope it worked out a lot better than you feared

Celebrate Good Times, Come on!!!

It worked. It didn’t think it would and the furniture delivery men agreed. They placed it with both pieces side by side. I was sort of bummed the rest of the afternoon.

Then, DH came home and said it will work. Moved it around and it did!! I couldn’t believe it! I’m so thrilled.

I guess I jumped the gun in venting last night, but thanks for letting me.

@conmama, if it makes you feel any better, because misery loves company, I’ll share the major furniture gaffe Dh and I had when we first got married. Before we got engaged, we were living in Hawaii. Just before we left Hawaii, we got engaged. We were not living together and Dh had a full size bed but wanted a bigger bed. Since it was going to be an expensive purchase, we went together to pick out the mattress since it was going to be the mattress we would be using for many years as a married couple. We got an expensive king size pillow top. He just used a metal bed frame that came with it initially.

Flash forward a year. We were getting married and building a house. As a wedding gift to us, dh’s parents wanted to give us a bedroom set of our choice. We drove down to furniture Mecca of High Point NC and picked out a beautiful cherry bedroom set (dressers, nightstands, Head/footboard).

So furniture gets delivered, they assemble everything and then go to put the box spring and mattress on the bed. Well, unbeknownst to us, the mattress set we got in Hawaii was a California King, not a regular king. I’d never even heard of a Cal King, the sales rep never ever mentioned it - we are NOT tall people so never would’ve chosen a longer bed vs a wider bed. So the boxspring would not fit on the frame. I was flipping out - we could not afford nor did we want to replace a one year old mattress set! In the end, we just bought a new regular king size boxspring. The mattress was a little narrower and a little longer than the boxspring but with all the bedding on it, you couldn’t tell. We kept that darned Cal King mattress for 20 years. We just replaced it with a regular King a couple of years ago. But I still remember how upsetting that was thinking we were going to have to go out and buy a new mattress to fit our lovely furniture.

I hope you are able to find a workable solution and be able to enjoy having the bedroom furniture you have waiting all these years for!

@conmama what did your husband move around to make this all work?

He moved the nightstand that is close to the closet on the east wall down further than I thought he would want it. Pushed the nightstands next to the bed closer.

I thought it would all looked squished and the chest drawers wouldn’t be able to pull out full enough.

But it looks fine and works. I’m sort of surprised that I didn’t think it would.

@4kids4us …that would have made me want to cry! Who would ever have thought that would happen. I’m glad you were able to make it work and thanks for sharing! Misery does love company!

conmoma - I’m glad it worked out!
I’ve hated my living room layout for 15+ years. bought a new chair this summer thinking it would solve the problem, and in the midst of rearranging everything (3 other chairs and a couch) I came up with a new layout that is great which I’d never thought of before! love it; and took the new chair back. ** glad you played around with the layout and it worked.

@bgbg4us …glad you figured it out! Now I want to know the layout.

Nice! Enjoy the well deserved new furniture!

Mattress set comes this morning! I’m very excited. I’ve been struggling with how to decorate the bed and finally made DH discuss it with me last night instead of me running all over town bringing home things.

We are going to do the “hotel” look. White sets and alternative down comforter with this duvet in the taupe. My padded tuffed headboard is a dark taupe. 2 of the king shams.

Ordered 3 of these pillowcases, DH likes 2 pillows.

Will put some sort of coverlet or throw at the end. Not sure what color. Maybe a charcoal to match the studs in my headboard.

Have fun, @conmama ! Looks great!

I’m waiting for The Company Store to send me an email with a big % off and then I’m going to pounce on new sheets.

I love coverlets! I picked one up at Target recently, on sale, and got the matching shams.

I was so anxious about the color — even with consulting with D via text.

But, it looks great! Relief! Know the feeling?

I’m dying to see a picture when it’s all put together!
