How? haha I’m a starting sophomore and I feel like if I get even one B my hopes and dreams of acceptance into Harvard or any other Prestigious school are destroyed. How’d you do it? Am I stressing myself out way more than I should? Advice plss… :)

What is your race? Just wondering, as it plays a pretty big factor in admissions at elite schools like Harvard.

I got all B’s and a C+ freshman year… (although I did get a 99 in Bio)

Still no hope though:p

I do not mean to be ungrateful, but this post is kind of useless without providing the rest of your stats? For all we know, you could be the Intel grand Winner and IMO X 4. Please post your stats. :]

Good point.^

It’s a huge pain to list all stats, but I’ll give you all the basics.

My unweighted GPA was around 3.8, but I attended a semi-prestigious (difficult but not famous) boarding school.
SAT: 2310
SAT II’s:
-800 Physics
-750 Math II
-720 Latin
-660 English
Race: White (surprise!)
Hooks: None. Not a recruit, legacy, anything.
Extracurriculars:
-Senior editor of literary magazine (CSPA silver crown winner, placing it in top 20 of approx. 1400 magazines)
-Drama (only did 3 plays but starred in 1 and main villain in another)
-Founded and coached school fencing club
-Varsity XC (JV captain sophomore year)
-Started a t-shirt selling business at school and made about $1500 selling 200 shirts
-Wrote, produced, and starred in an original play (aside from the other 3 plays)
Some minor academic awards but no winning the National Math Competition or anything

And I had a very strong interview. So, yes, I was accomplished, but I wasn’t perfect, and neither is anyone else. Good luck all.

Also, to clarify, I was originally waitlisted, although I was later offered a spot (I turned it down btw and don’t regret it. If you want more info look at the UChicago board). And don’t take this as an excuse to slack (I never slacked for a second my Freshman, Junior and Senior years). I got really lucky to even be waitlisted, and even luckier to get offered a spot. This you can say about anyone who gets in, really, but it’s not the end of the world if you get a B and it’s even less of an end to the world if you don’t get into Harvard.

Well…figures… 3 B’s are like, nothing when compared to your stats.
Congratulations!!!
