I got a 26 in Dec Am I DOOMED?????

I took the test in october and i got a 25 and then i took it in december and i got a 26. I really wanna go to University of Michigan or Michigan State. Is this like a terrible score becuase some people say its so good while others just say its terrible. I come from a high school where the average is 25 and i also come from a very high class prestige area where parents brag about where there kids go to college. So on that note am i doomed?

DAMN FEB SCORES COME OUT NOW

Chill out, dude.

This website: http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=2157&profileId=6</a> tells you the 25%ile to the 75%ile for people at MSU. 26 is above average! You’re virtually guaranteed (if you have decent grades).

As for UMich, http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=1195&profileId=6</a> it will be tough as 26 is 25%ile. However, you still have april and june. just get into the higher 20s for U Mich.

You need to relax. Stop worrying about other people’s tendencies and how they brag. Just look at things objectively to see what you need to strive towards.

I have a 3.9 recalculated GPA and i also have lots of community service and work experience so i hope that i get into both of these universities, thanks for the info.

It might be okay for State. I think State has an average of 24. You’ll probably need to aim for at least a 28, maybe higher, to get into Michigan. I heard that Michigan closed down one of its freshman dorms or something, so it’s harder to get in. Hmm. I don’t know if that’s true, though.

Wasabi612, even with your current 26, you should be admitted to State without any worries. What does “recalculated gpa” mean? Does that mean weighted?

Evilmonkey is right that 28+ is probably needed for a very good chance at Mich.

Recalculated is what colleges such as MSU and U of M do to you GPA. They get your transcript and they take grades 10 and 11 and they take all the grades and base them on this scale. 4=A 3=B 2=C 1=D 0=E then they divide what they get by the number of grades. They only take your core academic classes when doing this and this is what MSU and U of M do but there are many other universities that do. The main point is that there are no pluses ore minuses.

Ok then, 3.9 is really good. I was thinking that recalculated means weighted, which would mkae 3.9 not the greatest weighted gpa.

But with a 3.9 and 26, you’re in State. I can say that, barring any unforseen circumstances, you’ve got a 100% shot.

For U Mich, it’ll be tough to get in with a 26 despite your high gpa. You’ll need in the high 20s+ for Mich.

Good Luck.
