I got a 1810 on the SAT, and that was with prepping
I live in L.A. so the SAT is what mostly counts

I got a 30 on the ACT, with one practice test beforehand

Is it worth the 4 hours to see if i can do better?

According to ACT to SAT conversion charts… a 30 is higher (roughly a 1980 on the new SAT). Some west coast schools like the SAT better so if you’re thinking of applying to them you should probably do a bit more prep for the SAT. But if you managed to get a 30 without much prep on the ACT, you could probably get a higher score…

Depends on what you’re aiming for, Mashya. Is the 30 in the upper ranges of the schools you are targetting?

I would say retake the ACT with more prep, but that’s just me.

Huh? Which colleges? Please cite websites.

A 30 is a definite improvment; retake if you think you can do better, particularly if one really low score (science anyone?) brought down your composite.

Mashya:

Also be aware that the UCs parse the composite score and factor in the Writing score to make it equivalent to an SAT score. The formula is: math+reading+science times 2/3rds PLUS english/writing times 1/3.
