I was recently accepted to my dream art school, which doesn’t require any general ed, maths/science classes, things like that. I was really overwhelmed my senior year and didn’t have time to finish my last required science class and now I don’t have my GED. Is it possible to fake a transcript to send to my school and then enroll in a class online to get my official GED?
You already know the answer to this… don’t fake anything. Either call them and see if you can work something out or accept that you messed up.
Can I ask how you missed that? Were you working with a school counselor?
To answer your question, it is possible to fake a transcript but the risks aren’t worth undertaking. As the above poster said, you would be better off just calling them and explaining your circumstances genuinely. Good luck!
Do not fake anything. That is not a path you want to go down after just getting into your dream art school. Get in front of this now. As dixiechicktx said call them and see what can be done. Honesty really is the best policy along with the best manners and the admission that you miscalculated. Good luck
my guidance counselor also had 300 other seniors on her plate, and I was already making up lots of other credits, it just got lost in translation. if I call them and explain is there a chance they’ll let me still attend this semester? or will it be a straight shot out of the school…?
I don’t think any of us know what the school will say. Call them and be honest. Hopefully it will turn out in your favor. Good luck.
See if you can work something out.
Definitely don’t fake anything, lie etc.
Agree with everyone else. DO NOT FAKE. Call the school. BEFORE you call the school, find out how to get that class started ASAP so you can have a plan ready to tell them how you are going to get that credit. I might start with your HS counselor and ask them how you can get this class done ASAP.
For what it’s worth, I realized, during winter break of my senior year of college, that I had not taken a required class to get my major. After freaking out, I made an appt with the head of the dept, explained my situation, what had happened (I had scheduled it, then dropped it later for another class to make my class times different), accepted responsibility, and asked for his help in solutions. He said that he appreciated my honesty and taking responsibility, and because I was honest and wasn’t blaming anyone but myself, waived the requirement for me. Be honest, be brave, good luck! I don’t think they will “kick you out”. Hopefully the worst case scenario is that they defer your admission until second semester, but I think you have a chance to work it out.
You need to contact the high school and find out what you need to do to fulfill the missing science requirement. Than you need to do whatever they ask that you do. Period.
You might have to start college a semester late, but in the long run, that is not a big deal.
And no, you do not want to take the GED exams. That is a series of four exams. I teach GED prep. It is almost certain that it would take you longer to prepare for and take all of those exams than it would for you to complete one missing science class.
See if you can make up your science class before school starts…e.g. BYU HS online course.

This is a reoccurring dream that I have. Someone does an audit and realizes that I am missing something to graduate HS. The argument that I have a Masters never works and I end out in a HS class as an adult.
@Eeyore123 …andyou are showing up at the final having missed all the classes…
If you lie, you are done. Besides, is that really the kind of person you want to be?
When did you discover you were missing the class?
You need to contact both the high school, and the college.
Ask the high school what you need to do to complete the graduation requirements - and audit of those requirements is usually done for all students shortly before graduation. Was this not done for you?
Ask the college if they can defer your entrance into their program, or if they are willing to let you stay and complete that science credit at the same time. You might find they are willing to do so, since you don’t specifically need it as a prerequisite for their classes.
If you were to “fake” a transcript (not as easy as you seem to think, but if you managed to do so), there is a significant risk that the college would find out. At that point they could invalidate all courses you took, without issuing a refund (particularly bad if you’ve paid for more than one year of tuition at that point), or they could change your transcript to all F’s. It’s better to wait a semester, if necessary, than risk losing everything.
OK, it’s been a few days. Since this is urgent, I’m hoping you contacted your guidance counselor. What did she say?
@bjkmom The OP hasn’t been back since the day this was posted.
Given OPs artistic talent and apparent willingness to “fake things”, perhaps she has opted to postpone art school and instead pursued the more lucrative career choice to counterfeit currency.
Cardinal rule = don’t fake things. It makes any eventual achievements fake.
Hmmmm… Wonder how far the “faking” extended.
If Op is missing a class, s/he did not successfully complete high school and will most likely not be able to enroll.
Op already knew that they were missing credits (I am quite sure that high school has some sort of certification process to let students know if they are graduating, if they must attend summer school and become an august grad or if they have to come back as a 5th year student).
Op will need to defer for a January start date or to start next year.
