No. Thousands of students have applied. You said you would do summer. They put you in summer, and expect you to show up. It makes no sense to then have hundreds of calls about “But I wanted to work” or “I have a wedding” or “I want to go on a trip” and just switch everyone around.
Yes, there are people who say they know someone who knew someone who asked and they were switched. Yes, that does happen. But, have you noticed that PSU is particularly competitive this year? Do you see the people with crossed fingers hoping to be admitted, at all? You are fortunate, and have worked hard to get this admission, and this is a fine time to welcome yourself to college – where what you “really want” to do may not always be your best choice, most sensible choice, or even in your own best interest.
Nothing personal. I just find this whole idea (which is now going to show up as acceptances come in) really mind-boggling. After months of waiting, the first thing students want to do is essentially complain about their invitation to the place they’ve wanted to go. Don’t be that student. Come with an open mind, join some faith-based groups, and make the most of your new chapter
IMHO that wouldn’t work because fall has different admissions standards than summer. Maybe they would consider you after they have finished the priority applications but I wouldn’t bet on it. Just so you know, PSU has great service fraternities with opportunities to go on service trips. Although you might miss out on this one PSU will give you many more opportunities!!!
PSU states outright that if you get into Summer after applying for fall, it is mandatory that you start in summer if you want to go to UP. You could always switch to a branch campus for fall.
You’ll have to decide what matters most: the mission trip, or your spot at University Park. This year, there have been many, many students denied, more than in the past few years, and if you give up your spot there’ll be lots of students ready to take it, but you made it into UP, do you really want to attend Beaver or Abington or wherever there’s still space?
