I got suspended and I have no idea if I should bother reapplying [disciplinary suspension from college]

I got suspended from a CSU for 1 year. This was a disciplinary suspension. Just wondering if anyone has ever been suspended from a CSU and successfully re-enrolled once the suspension was complete

If you were suspended for a year and not expelled, then it’s for a year and you can apply to be reinstated for the semester beginning after the year is up.

I would also own up and contact the school /advisor. Let them know your plans. Let them know you learned your lesson. Find out the process now so there are no surprises later on.

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES! Sorry, bold was intentional.

Everyone screws up in life. Let this be a learning teaching moment.

Don’t let this define you. You are better than that.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Its bit more touchy than that. I wont/cant admit to wrong doing. There was a legal aspect to this. Video evidence that was provided exonerated me so I was not charged. However, the school in typical CYA fashion still went through the process of suspension. I was just wondering how bad it looks on future applications…oh, and boy oh boy have I learned my lesson. Wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people

thank you for the reply @Bill_Marsh I wont be going back to that campus but was looking to apply elsewhere

If you have a lawyer then I would lean on their expertise on this matter. Good luck to you.

So, is your question about whether you can apply to another CSU campus in light of the fact that you are suspended from one CSU campus?

As I read the policy, a suspension from one campus bars you from all CSU campus until the conditions of the suspension are met. However, I suggest that you read the fine print of your particular notification. That’s what matters with regards to the term of your suspension.

Otherwise, I support @Knowsstuff’s advice of consulting an attorney if you want to apply for reinstatement.

@Bill_Marsh My question isnt whether I can apply. Im quite sure I can apply once the suspension is over. My question was if there is anyone out there with a similar experience and if anyone has insight into just how detrimental it is to have it on your record. In other words, is it even worthwhile to apply. Is it going to be an automatic rejection.

I don’t think anyone here is going to be able to handicap your chances…these are questions for your school, and I expect each student’s circumstances are unique. If they for sure didn’t want you back, they would have expelled you.

I agree that it sounds like you might not be able to admit to wrong doing, since you mentioned a legal aspect. Anything in your application may be discoverable so probably best to avoid an admission of guilt.

@hanna Do you have any insights?

@Mwfan1921 Thanks so much for replying. Im not looking for advice on how to better my chances. I was simply hoping that someone on this forum has experience with this . For example either “yeah, i got suspended from a CSU and was able to get into another campus when the suspension was over” or “I got suspended and reapplied to all 23 campus and was denied by all of them” kind of a thing…thats all.

Maybe @Hanna can provide advice.

boy @Hanna seems like she has lots of knowledge on this forum. I would appreciate your input

Have you considered requesting expungement from your CSU transcript of your disciplinary suspension once your sentence is completed?
