So after hearing on the other thread about the “record number of EA applicants who have already matriculated,” i feel like my chances are already shot. I was deferred from Yale EA, and I sent in an update, additional teacher rec, resubmited essay, etc. but I didn’t hear back from Yale at all. When I applied to Yale EA I checked that I was applying for financial aid but I changed my mind so I indicated that in the update I sent in early March. I already received a likely letter from Dartmouth, and a couple days before I got the letter the FA office sent me an email asking if I was applying for FA or not. Soo, since I changed my FA status and HYP didnt email me at all about it, does that mean that I’m already rejected? Sorry for the rambling… I’m not sure this makes sense… Did other deferees get contacted by the FA office/admissions officer??

bump anyone??

not sure. i sent in some updates after being deferred from yale, and i never got a response.

its just… dunno… it seems like if a school is planning on accepting u they email u about FA stuff (or in my case, lack of FA materials sent since I checked on my app but then sent a letter in withdrawing)… thats what happened when I got likelys from cornell and dartmouth… i hate waiting and speculating like this

Some people who get no contact at all other than “We have received your application…” still manage to get in. There’s no point in worrying now other than causing an anxiety attack. =

BTW, I LOVEEEE Harry Potter, esp. Fred and George Weasleyy (yes, even in the movies I think they’re gorgeous).

lolll yeah i <3 Fred and George too, they practically carried the 4th movie

ahhhh yes, they were quite nice looking in the movies, I must admit.

Except the last one!

They’re hotter in the books.

Ah well… Harry Potter has to be the most pathetic piece of juvenile trash I’ve ever read in my life.

anyways… did any deferees hear from their admissions officers?

After I sent my email update, they sent back a “we have received your update” thing. But, other than that, nothing.

I didn’t hear anything, but I didn’t send in an update until pretty late. I sent in two extra recommendations, though.

“Some people who get no contact at all other than “We have received your application…” still manage to get in.”

That’s what happened to me last year basically. I sent in my application in December, got a postcard in February saying they lost my essays(!), and then got a reply in March.

felix, I think a likely letter from Dartmouth is the best indicator you will get of your Yale decision prior to the 30th. Believe me, a few words about financial aid is nothing compared to a likely from Dartmouth. Don’t get your hopes too high, but you are definitely in the running…
