I had College Confidential phobia for a while there

I love to read and post here but during November, I was on less than usual. CC made me nervous. I kept thinking I would read something that would make me think that DS forgot to submit something really important or that one of DS’s essays (which I read) included something you should never mention or that an application or essay left out something you should always mention especially if you are applying to School x, y, or z, where x, y, and z = DS’s top three choices. Pure silliness but I was also really busy at work and my brain was on information overload. I just couldn’t take in one more piece of information or input. :)

Anyway, DS is done with app submissions except for his in-state safety, which he’ll do in the next week or two. Still need to worry about invited essay competitions or other invited honors app type things, but he has to wait to be invited. Still need to think about housing. But seriously, I think the aggravation (reminding him to work on apps) and stress (worrying about deadlines - I know, hover, hover, hover) is over. And this was the second of my 2Kids_ so unless one of my nieces decides to apply adventurously and asks for my help on choosing where to apply or deciding between possible essay topics, I am pretty darn well done with this college app business, at least as far as my own family goes.

Whew.

I remember this “done with the apps” feeling from the first kid. Such a relief when she had everything turned in! After that, sure, it is a bit stressful to wait for results, but there is nothing more the kid can do, so nothing is hanging over the kid’s head.

I would do a little happy dance here but I’m too tired. I’m doing one in my head, okay?

We are between application flurries (D2 is only a HS junior), so I have some energy to do a happy dance for you! Congratulations!

Instead of the dance, I’ll give a cheer- MidwestMom2Kids is the best!!! Now she can get some rest. Congratulations!

And some of us are still hanging around… 5 or 6 years later. If my kid decides to go to graduate school I don’t think I am going to help with the applications (or tuition).

Congrats! Perfect timing as I was just looking at the forum for ds2’s dream school, and I had an anxiety attack reading the chances threads for some of those kids. I’m not sure that I’m ready for round two.

My daughter was still doing apps in January. They were hanging over her head all through our annual Christmas vacation in Minnesota. Glad son won’t be in that boat.

Thanks for the congrats and good wishes, and good luck to parents and kids still working on the apps for this year.
