I hate waiting!

WVDad – from these postings, it became clear that many of the people who have already been notified heard first from their congressman’s office.

This has been a very ‘active’ process and now my son is in ‘wait’ mode after months of effort – not an easy situation.

In re-reading some material sent by the academy last year or, under USNA Admissions it said “all candidates will be notified of admission no later than 15 April”. While this was for the entering class of 2009, it would seem reasonable that the time frame would be the same for the 2010 hopefuls. So still a little more time to wait!!!

I just found this great site last night and wish we had had it al along! My son is stressed out.

In January he was offered a guaranteed offer of appointment… “all” he needs is a nomination. We are in Midlothian Virginia and were told early on that the nomination process in this area is very competitve.

In February, his Regional Director at the Academy wrote "Upon reviewing of your record, I note that we have sent you a conditional offer of appointment; but at this point, you do not have a nomination. I wanted to know if you are still interested in coming to the academy. " We have heard nothing since.
I would appreciate any wisdom/encouragment/frank replies.
Thanks!

Time to pull out the etiquette book and see how you can write, HELL YES in a respectful manner! ;)

wsjmother- I would agree to pull out all the stops and call your BGO and then the regional director for your area- there might be an opportunity to get a supe’s nomination, or a nom from another source- but I would think the best person that can guide you would be your BGO-
Best of luck!

We did contact our regional director and her reply was “That is all the information that I have for you concerning nominations. If you have further questions, you may speak with our nominations department”

Then we contacted the Assistant Head Nominations and Appointments. We have the local Navy League, and people in our community who have ASKED US if they can write letters of recommendation…. The response was “There’s nothing more you can do. We don’t need or want a letter from the Navy League. We’ll be making recommendations to the VP’s office this week, but we don’t anticipate hearing back until mid-March. So you’ll just have to be patient a while longer.”

Our BGO is very encouraging, but essentially tells us to wait.

… but as I have read elsewhere in this site- Stan WILL end up where he SHOULD be…… all our festering and straining aside. He is an incredible young man and will excel and do great things (not just for himself- but for those around him) wherever he is.

wsjmother- it sounds like Stan has a terrific mom!!!

wsjmother - NO MORE WAITING! Phone your congressman, senator, anyone from the state alumni association. Is your son by chance involved with JROTC? You can get a nomination from the senior naval science instructor, my daughter did while “waiting” for congessonal nod.

Please keep us informed and know our prayers are with you!

And yes, this IS a great site and I KNOW a lot of people out there were pulling for my daughter (confirmed yesterday!) and will do the same for your son.

wsj mother-
If “they” want your son in, which it sounds like they do, “they” can find a nominating source for your child. The fact they called and asked if he still wants an appointment sounds encouraging. Good luck!!

Thank goodness, as of today our waiting is over-
Good news for the 3 foundation kids in Ct- all will be joining the class of 2010- the Torpedo one of them!!!

A long, long journey, but well worth the wait if you can take it!!

Best of luck to those of you still waiting- it is so hard, but so worth it~ keep your eye on the goal!!!

Congrats to the Torpedo and Mom…go navy!
