ok so let’s say that I won a scholarship to an engineering class. I decide to attend because I’m interested in the subject and think it will be fun. The course takes up A LOT of time, and by the end of it, I failed the class, feel like I wasted all of my time, and decide that the last thing I want to do with my life is become an engineer. Would it still be appropriate to list this as a summer activity when I fill out my college application? Because I really hated the class and are you only supposed to put down activities that were of interest to you?

This would actually make a GREAT personal statement topic!

Well, you should put it down and describe it briefly, at least.
It can only help you.

thanks kwu
I guess I thought that it would make me look like a failure or something, but I was really just exploring, and the class only confirmed what I knew deep down all along. I kind of feel like I let down the people who gave me the scholarship though lol.
