I have an invisible friend

Yes I know how it sounds- but I have had enough metaphysical experiences over my life that I don’t know how else to explain it.

I do feel like I have good karma- even though I have had some rough- horrible-depressing and demoralizing periods- I think on the whole I am very lucky and happy.

But maybe that is just because I have no short term memory!

I often misplace things- sometimes I find them after a few hours ( well it seems like hours) of searching, sometimes I need a new pair of eyes to help me. I tend to put my wallet /keys in weird places.

Infrequently, I will be so frustrated by my lack of success in finding what I am looking for , that I will call upon my invisible friend to help me. It is always at a time when ( IMO-)it is important, like when I will completely miss a class if I don’t find my keys. ( it is too far to take the bus in a timely fashion)

A few days ago, I lost my ipod. THis was a huge sadness, I use it alot every day. I not only have my calendar and notes on it, but books that I am currently reading and family photos.

I had looked for days- I thought it had to be around the house
( as I thought I had it in my hand when I put my school stuff in my car), but had looked in my car very throughly several times- I even moved my husbands car where he had been working on it in the driveway to see if it had fallen underneath, looked in the house/looked in my car again, and had almost given up that it might have fallen between the seat and the door and maybe fallen out without me noticing. I looked around the yard, the driveway, everyplace.

I started looking in my car yet another time, and called out to my ( for lack of a better word) angel, that I know they have helped me before and that I really needed their help again to find it. I concentrated on transmitting how much this tool helps me and how much I needed their help. It * still* didn’t appear in my car, ;), but I walked by my husbands car again which was still in the driveway and just happened to glance down- and there it was.

Which shocked me, because ( we have a driveway with a strip of plantings down the middle), I have been watering the driveway by hand ( I have taken out much of the grass and planted some evergreen ground covers) so not only have I been over that area with water, but my husband has been using the driveway as well.

I picked it up and it works fine!

I only do this when there is something * really important* I need help with- important to me at least- it is kinda spooky, but kinda cool.

Maybe I should study physics, because I think eventually we will find ( [or they probably already have proved that?](Buckaroo Banzai Frequently Asked Questions))that there is some sort of energy that binds all matter together through time and space- but that is probably going to involve math- so the lack of short term memory is still a problem.
:(

Probably St. Anthony (Patron Saint of lost articles).

Thanks atomom, I never even thought about saints ( Im not really Christian ,let alone Catholic)
but it very well could be.
interesting anyway.
:)

No it is actually Saint Subconscious. She knows everything.

Send her my way. I need help finding the joy that I used to have in life. :(

Calling on your invisible friend for help sounds a lot like what religious people would call prayer.

I also call on St. Anthony when I am really desparate (a few times in my life so far) to find a missing object. The weirdest part is that, like OP explained, it turns out in a spot that I must have looked at gazillion times!
Methaphysics! Have you read The Lost Symbol???

Lol, I misplace things all the time. I often need to backtrack to find them. More often I just wait until they pop up.

Not really what you’re looking for, but…

 1. Quantum Entanglement (one subatomic particle affects another, regardless of spatial separation)
 2. Grand Unification Theory (four fundamental fields are unified at extreme circumstances)

thanks aeroengineer- I know a guy who wrote this

 • Time-dependent quantum many-body theory of identical bosons in a double well: Early-time ballistic interferences of fragmented and number entangled states*, maybe I will make him and his wife dinner and translate it into English for me.

Many believe the spirit of loved ones help to look over us. Some might explain they either move the object to where you can find it, or guide you into finding it.
Some also believe evil spirits are at work- to appear to help you initially only to trick you later.
Or there’s always the idea of random luck with no supernatural intervention.
