I’m like failing art with an 80 or 75. I failed music with a 75 somehow too. I’m a sophomore. Im looking to apply to extremely selective ivy league colleges. Will it really hurt me that I got an 85 in art and 75 in music sophomore year?

Art and music are required in my catholic school. In art, its so hard, and like it gives so many students massive anxiety. Music on the other hand, were forced to learn piano and forced to practice during our free periods that everybody usually uses to study and make review sheets. I had great test scores but terrible practice grades. In art, i have good value photos, but terrible painting time so I’m failing.

Will it affect my admission into a selective college even if i have great ECs?

An 85 won’t hurt too much, especially if you all your other grades are As. However a 75 is not good; not failing, but not good either by top 20 standards.

I think you have a lot more to worry about than your 80 in art. You’re only a freshman and you are worrying about your GPA for Ivy Leagues. I hate to break it to you, but your 95 average means essentially nothing right. Why? Because you are taking the easiest classes of your high school career. Now as for that 80, I guess you can explain on your application why you got those grades. But if you maintain your grades at 95, the 75-80 will have little to no impact on your GPA. You’ll still likely get a 3.9 UW and when you add APs on top, you’ll have like a 4.5.

Okay, wait, sorry. Forget the “95 means nothing thing” I read it incorrectly. But yeah, everything else still stands. If you are being honest about your high grades, the 80 won’t have much impact on your grade. Are you currently a junior?

I’m currently a sophomore, I’ll be a junior next year. All my grades are 90 and above. I think I just put a lot of pressure on myself. Art and Music are not my forte at all and they give me and 64 other students such massive anxiety.

Keeping up these stats can failing art and music really murder me? Because I’m really contemplating whether or not I’m going to redo this value project or just give myself one well deserved night of sleep for once.
