I have worn them out...

I have so far used these prep books:
Princenton Review
Kaplan
Real ACT Prep

I went through all the strategies and took all the tests in PR, I have gone through some of Kaplan, I still too all the tests though (I will go through it again completely), and I took the tests in Real ACT about 6 months ago before the first time I took the test

1st time with Real ACT Prep

English 27
Math 24
Reading 26
Science 26

2nd time wiht PR and some Kaplan

English 28
Math 24
Reading 29
Science- I just *****ed up, I felt like I was going to die:)

I though PR was awesome for math, on the math practice tests I got 27’ and 28’s, everything else were in the high 20’s low 30’s. Overall I got a 36 both times, I didn’t really improve a whole lot, just a point or two in my subscores.

I am taking the test again for the last time on June 10, I have 7 days from today to start studying, what I want is book that is very thorough and is different in teaching methods, I hear that this book is Amsco’s ACT??? Is it true??? I know it may not be the best book, but is it fairly good?? I am hoping for a 29+!!! Also, one of my strategies is to go through my prep books over strategy, and just go through practice tests under no time limit, answer questions that I may or may not know. Pretty much just study without taking a timed test. Do you guys think it may help??? All the other times I studied were just by taking tests, so I want to try something different.

EDIT: 22 in Science second time, and I got 26’s not 36

hello…

dude you’ve read three books, my advice look over what you’re getting wrong on the subsections and focus on trying to improve on them, last thing to do is to go buy another book which you wont have enough time to grasp and retain the info its telling you.

Wow, 4 points lower in the science after all the studying… that must have been tough to handle. Well, i’m in the same boat as you with the science unfortunately… it’s also my lowest and I can’t seem to bring it up.

TBH though, one week is not going to be enough to make a drastic difference in your score. The AMSCO Math could help you a great deal with your 24 in it, but again, a week isn’t much time.

I don’t recommend taking the practice tests in ‘untimed’ conditions. I think it’s better to stick to the exact conditions of the ACT when you take the practice tests, or else you’ll find yourself in trouble when the real test rolls around.
