I just had my Georgetown University interview today, how do you think I did?

Here are some of the questions/answers:

describe courseload: im in 5 APs this year which I think I get a lot more out of than other electives that I could have chosen

whats ur favorite classes: sciences (ap physics this year which is really challenging and a different kind of applied math/science course.) and maths (im taking both stats and calc this year)

what do you do in your free time/with friends: read (im a big harry potter fan) and my friends and I like to try new sports (recently tennis and snowboarding)

what did u consider when looking at colleges: location, competitiveness, sports (school spirit), size, Catholic

but why georgetown?: once I visited and spoke to the people everyone was really involved and I realized I wanted a school not just close/in a city but one that is connected and has a community feel with the area around it (just like georgetown has)

what do u have to offer, why you would fit in?: Im involved in extracurriculars and want to continue that in college especially student recruitment (tours) and big brother/big sister (giving advice to incoming freshman), im goal oriented and have a strong work ethic/looking for a challenging college curriculum

what clubs do you do outside of school: mathletes (fun, enjoy mathmatics), co-president of senior class in student government (always planning things, opportunity to represent entire school), lacrosse (goalie, leader of defense, interesting and fun position)

We talked a lot about fun and “the college experience” (study abroad, housing, working, classes, drama) during the interview. The lady was really nice too but Im worried I didnt focus on academics enough? What do you think?

So your’e a girl?

Yep, white female

My interviewer was the coordinator for my region. It’s fine that you didn’t focus on academics, as G’town already knows your stats. They want to put a person into your application. How long was your interview?

My interview is tomorrow. I’m not really nervous because I know I’m motivated and have set goals for going there. My interviewer said that it should last only about 30 minutes. Hope that helps! :)

Btw, BEST OF LUCK TO ALL THAT ARE APPLYING TO GEORGETOWN! See you in the Official Georgetown RD Thread!

@anika011
How did it go? and what did they ask you :)

The interview went great today!
It did last for about 30 minutes, and I did most of the talking. She was informal and very laidback. I enjoyed listening to her experiences and classes at Georgetown.

1.) Tell me some things about yourself.
It was very broad, so instead of being academic, I introduced myself and talked about my personality and hobbies. (goals came in later on)
2.) Name some of your extracurricular activities.
We all know how that always goes!
3.) Talk about the hardest thing you’ve ever faced and what you learned from it.
I talked about my grandfather’s death and how I coped with it, I actually started crying, and she was also teary-eyed, but she was complacent about it and acknowledged my sensitivity towards my hardship.
4.) Instead of the ‘Why Georgetown’ question, she asked me what I looked for in school.
I mentioned location, size, class size, school policies, tradition, sports, study abroad, etc. and connected that with why Georgetown is suitable for me.
5.) I got to ask her any questions I had, so I asked if I, as a minority (Bangladeshi Muslim), would face any barriers at a Catholic school like Georgetown.
She reassured me that although they follow traditions, they have very open and liberal views on diversity. Other than that, she said that she loved how Georgetown’s curriculum focuses on personal education, not just academics.

Good luck to all that haven’t yet/will soon have their interview! :)
