I was recently admitted to Electrical Engineering at UIUC and I’m having a lot of trouble in all of my classes. I’m taking Calculus 2, Calculus based Physics Mechanics, Introduction to Computing, and Introduction to Electronics, and I’m struggling in every single one of them even though I’ve already completed Calculus and Calculus Based physics in high school.
I’ve had a history of bad grades since sophomore year in high school and I just can’t seem to be able to do anything about it. It doesn’t matter whether I study or don’t (I do in hopes of actually doing well) and I think that I understand the material but the results say otherwise. I go to review sessions, I work with the professor’s assistants during office hours, I’ve tried different note taking techniques during lectures, I’ve tried self study, I’ve tried studying in groups, I’ve asked for help from classmates, I explain key concepts to other classmates, etc.
The point is, I’ve tried every darn thing in the book and I’ve still failed every single math exam in the past 2 years and I’ve failed or gotten grades close to failing in just about every midterm this year, meanwhile the idiots getting wasted every weekend next door still manage to stay afloat.
I cannot stress how tired I am of this. How can I STOP FAILING every single exam???
