I kinda feel behind for college

Hi I’m kinda new around here. Well, I’m going to Sixth College and I see people talking about taking what classes and stuff and I haven’t even looked into that stuff yet. Is there any advice on what I should take as a Human Biology major for the up coming quarter?

I’m kind of worried. I sort of want to know what life is like there too if anyone has exp or know anyone from there.

It was my 4th choice college. Why did they put me in there?

You should get recommended classes from your counselor when you’re signing up for them. From what I’ve read, it’s fine to follow the recommendations.

Hi, I’m going to be a freshman too, but I’m at ERC. ERC was my 4th choice also and I wasn’t happy about. I don’t know how you ranked the colleges, but my top three were Muir, Marshall, and Warren(which happen to be the most popular). As for your classes go in midAugust you should get a recommended schedule also go to class planner on tritonlink.

I just joined CC about 2 weeks ago, because I felt the same way you do- confused and behind. CC has helped me so much. I definitely recommend asking as many questions as you want, b/c the people here are so helpful.

I’m going to be in Sixth too and it was my 5th choice, but I’m just happy that I’m going to UCSD  I also felt a bit out of the loop, so I started reading everything here on CC. It may help if you look over the GE requirements and the standards of your major. Like nicholep said, just ask questions whenever they come to mind or search for them in the archives/Google.

My guess as to why I got put in Sixth is my extracurriculars I put in my app like flute, orchestra, ceramics and art. iuno

Here are the four year plans for 6th college: [Four-Year Plans](http://sixth.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/fouryear-plans/index.html)

:)

I just want to note that not everyone gets their first choice college but 99.9% of people end up loving the college they’re in. Everyone I know in Sixth said the dorms and the people were really fun and that it was a great environment. So really don’t worry, all the colleges at UCSD are essentially equal and you’re going to love it.

like ucsandiego said, don’t worry  I put Sixth as my 4th? 5th? choice and I’m in it, but no regrets. there are some great people here. you will meet a lot of people you like and maybe some you don’t, it will take some time for you to adjust and “find your own.” but college will be great. things will work out.

I see that this thread has become a beacon for sixers… I got admitted to sixth college too haha! Fourth choice just like you, but after meeting all the ossum people on the facebook group I have to say that I’m already glad that I got put into sixth. =D

I plan to put Sixth as my first choice. :)

I feel the same way as you! I see so many people already asking if their schedules are okay, and I have absolutely NO idea where to start on those… I’m just waiting for academic advising haha :X

I’m in ERC! and I agree with nicholep, I asked so many questions on here and received great help! (:

@tonito, you’re definitely not alone. I’m in Sixth too and it was my 4th choice, but I really didn’t put a lot of thought into ranking the colleges. Now that I know more about the GE’s etc., I would rank Sixth as my first choice. CC has been so helpful; stick around and you’ll see. @ucsandiego915 is like our big sister here haha.

HAHAHAHA thanks I am so honored :)

I love it at Sixth.

Anyways, I’m also a human biology major, and for starters, you’re not behind for anything. Above posters mentioned that you will be receiving recommendations on what courses to take, this is based on what college you are in and what AP’s/Courses you’ve previously taken.

But as a heads up you’ll probably be looking at the Math 10 series from A to C (10C can be replaced by 11 + 11 L I would do this for the stats requirement for sixth), Chem 6 series from A to C + Chem 7L, CAT 1-3, and CSE 3 fall or winter quarter.

PS:
If anyone from Sixth, or bio majors have some questions about first year things, whether it be CAT, or course load, feel free to message me.
