I know I hate me too.

i know everyone hates the whole tell me if i’m good enough thing but im going to go ahead and throw this one out there

SATs: 800M 760V 620W (great for my school)
took subject tests this month i think level 2 math 780 or 800 and bio 650ish

(3 B’s in english, 2 frosh 1 soph)

Rank: 19/404
Classes: most rigorous (HL Eng, HL Bio, HL Hist, Adv Comm, Adv Physics etc), even made IS 2nd year Calc class this year and did IS AP Stats concurrently w/AP Calc Jr year

EC’s:

Math Club- Founder (10), President (10,11,12)
National Honor Society and some other community service stuff (ex. tutor lab)
World Quest (Knowledge Bowl)

Awards: a ton of math contest awards, some citizenship awards, and a few social studies awards in there

Summers: Participated in enrichment programs in the east (great learning environ+ cultivated love of math and science)
Phillips Academy Andover Summer Session- (Chemistry)
Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School- (Advanced Math, Advanced Physics)

Location: Central Oregon (my school rarely sends kids to selective schools)

Adversities:
-Unexpected death of father prior to freshman year. Dealt with through strong friendships with supportive people, as well as school grief counseling.
-Low economic standing (poverty [lol]). Never overcome, but I have succeeded in spite of this economic adversity [again lol I’m so dumb]. (family income <$15,000/yr)

My dream school is MIT
also I’m considering Stanford, and Dartmouth as well as Carnegie Mellon and Harvey Mudd (safety OSU)

what to you guys think? do I have a shot? should i try to aim a bit lower?
thank you

no chance. I would own you at tennis

I would own both of you at tennis. I give you minimal chances. You suck at writing.

In a serious manner, I like your chances at Harvey Mudd and Carnegie Mellon. MIT, Harvard and Stanford will be tough. Best of luck!

Your writing is really pathetic though. You couldn’t even punctuate your thread title correctly. :o Maybe you should retAke to get a better score in Writing.

ehh writing isn’t very important
(mit doesn’t even consider it in admission, nor do some of the other schools im applying to)

awww… i don’t hate you.

really everybody I dont have any chances?
is it the sat scores or just me overall

stephenrigs:
I was kidding when I said NO chance. I just couldn’t help but try to act tough against another No. 1 Singles, tennis playing team captain.
The beauty of college admissions to top schools is that everyone has a chance. The ugly reality is that said chance is usually minutely small. So yes, you have a chance. Like the rest of the world, it is small.

I think you definitely have a chance. I wouldn’t retake the SAT if I were you; however, I would consider taking another subject test if your bio score comes out below 700. Your schedule doesn’t seem that rigorous, but if you’re taking advantage of the hardest classes available to you, then I guess you’re okay.
Try to get an interview for MIT.

Schools want students from economically diverse backgrounds. There are not many applicants as successfull as you that come from economic situations like yours. So play that up, it’s very impressive.

anybody else
im going to schedule my interview w/MIT later this week
anybody that has already applied to any of my schools got any stories/advice
