<p>My ‘Why’ Columbia’ answer was really unconventional…
I didn’t mention NYC or the core…
And now I feel like it was a stupid thing to do… I just talked about the Community Youth Impact program and how I would love to contribute to that, and start up a new art enrichment program for the underprivileged youth…
I feel so stupid.
I don’t think it even answers the ‘Why Columbia’ question…
I tried to focus on one unique thing that attracted me about Columbia, and now I look back and I think it was not the answer they wanted…</p>

<p>My admissions rep said that if someone didn’t mention either the core or nyc they would be a little confused because that’s what distinguishes them the most, but as long as you still give a valid reason it shouldn’t be a problem. There’s really nothing you can do now though. Maybe send them a note with a link to this page so they can see how truly obsessed you are… jk. good luck getting your other apps done.</p>

<p>omg… when i went to the info session at columbia the man said to us specifically… that the worst thing someone could say is… because columbia’s an ivy league in nyc.
and he said that the why question was very important (hence my paranoia…)</p>
