I know this question has been asked a bunch of times...

But does Princeton consider the writing score of the SAT?

I thought they did, but when I went on a college tour at Columbia yesterday, the admissions officer said that all Ivies would be doing a 3 year study of the writing score and would not weight it during admissions.

what?!!?!?!! “would not weight it?” what does that mean?

amacing, are u sure the admissions officer said that ALL IVIES wouldn’t take it into consideration?

oookaay…now why in the world are they making us suffer for 3 hours and they wont “weight” it. Besides what exactly do they mean by weight? Atleast they would have to consider it, as they cannot 100% avoid it. Its impossible.

heh. there’s no way they would NOT look at it. possibly they would give it less consideration.

omg, well at other schools like PENN they say it “doesn’t count in the beginning,” and is used only to break “ties.” what the heck?!

oh you must be joking…the writing score…to break ties.?? ties for ED?? i thought that wasnt possible since theres is really no specific limit to the number of accpetance letters

well, there basically is for ED. they look to fill about exactly 50% or their total incoming class in the early round. but it’s kinda weird, because there can really be no “ties.” the whole evaluation process is done hollistically. i guess its when 2 candidates are brutally similar. hmmmm

I’m not really sure what she meant. She was kind of ambiguous. What I got from it was that they would consider it at a lower scale than the CR or MT scores.
