Paying OOS tuition for a UC seems like a lot of money with no FA money to speak of except for some Regents Scholarships to top-flight students. Will you need FA? I think you have other options besides a CA public school. (I’m from CA, by the way.)

Thanks for the StatFinder, it has proved helpful. I probably should have noted that even though UC Davis is one of my top choices, I have applied (and will apply) to UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UCLA, U of Michigan, Hendrix, Pepperdine, and Boston University, with UMich and BU being my other two top choices. I would like FA, as much as the next student, but I could probably manage without it if I got accepted. One of those nagging things to thinks of when applying to college. The there’s grad school after that that is much more expensive. :~/

UMichigan is a very expensive school for OOS applicants, with virtually no FA available. It is one of our top choices as well, but that is the reality of the situation at this school.

I think you can get into Davis! I also think that the fact that you are first generation will help you.

–You have a high gpa, which will help your BU application.I have heard that private schools pay a lot more of attention to Ec’s and essays than public school. I know people who havent had lower grades and got in, they had high test scores though.
Good Luck!
