I made a mistake on my Common App essay, help!

In my essay, I said I started learning how to cook when I was 12. Later on in the essay, I said: “over the past 7 years of cooking…”.

I’m 18 right now. I meant to say 6 years and not 7. Will this hurt my applications??

If they notice, they’ll perceive it at worst as a typo. It won’t determine whether or not you’re accepted.

Most likely, they won’t even see it. They read the essays too quickly.

relax, if they even pick it up they’ll assume a typo as stated above or count 12-18 inclusive which would be seven years! They’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on that, spelling, grammar and calling the college by a different college are big no nos though
