Would this go under honors/distinctions?

Depends on which school you’re applying to and which prez you met ;)

so…dont brag
i didnt meet obama
but i met biden, bill clinton, the governor of my state, John King from CNN, and about 2 congressman.
only bring it up if it makes sense

No. 10 char

No. Write about it in your essay if it really made an impact on you, but don’t list it as an award.

Well it was Obama

“Would this go under honors/distinctions?”

no. just…no.

if you won some big contest where you did something outstanding and the reward was meeting them, then yes, list it as an award. otherwise, meeting famous people is just luck, and i don’t see how that would make you a more qualified applicant than anyone else.

the only way to bring it up would be with amarkov’s suggestion, write it in your essay if it had a significant impact on you (other than just being starstruck).

Yes! I is an awesome distinction to write down. Adcoms will be impressed

I don’t have a clue why this would be considered an honor / distinction in terms of a college application, unless it was as part of an award. I say this recognizing that it certainly is an honor to meet the president, but that’s not the type of distinction the college app is meant to include!

well it was kinda like an award or honor
My class made a video testimony about how the average American student is being affected by the economic crisis and we sent it to the president and to some major news stations… then he asked if we wanted to meet with him
no need to be rude, I was just asking

Meeting someone is not an award or honor.

Well, if the college in question is Columbia…

JK. No admissions advantage; don’t list it.

If you had mentioned it like this at the very BEGINNING, I’m pretty sure you’d receive a lot more wholehearted YES’S.

But the focus is about the actual project you made, not about glamorizing your meeting with him.

^ Yup.

Plenty of people, including teenagers, have met the president.

That the President used your class as a PR opportunity is not an honor and IMO would not an interesting essay unless you have a very unique twist.

hmom5

Wow. That’s a pretty cynical answer. I think the project sounds pretty cool and could make a great essay!!

Especially if it was only Obama. Now if it was several years ago and was Reagan . . .

:)

Sorry - not an honor nor a distinction. You would make yourself look foolish listing this
