I miss having fun.

I just cried reading the lyrics to "Forever Young". Do you ever wish you spent time with amazing friends and your family more than you spent on homework and EC's?

I'm kind of depressed because I still haven't found a group of kids at my school to be friends with. It seems like there's no in-between. There are the ones who drink and smoke every weekend, who study non-stop and are completely socially awkward, or (at my school) the ones who deal drugs and get into gang fights.

I can't get over my past. I had (for the most part) the same close friends from 2nd to 8th grade. Last year, everything changed. I so badly want to feel apart of a tight-knit group like that again..

I want to have fun. My mom always worries about me. She said "You're only young once." It makes me so damn sad sometimes. I wish it were easier to find good friends. I thought I had found one this year, but I found out that she talks **** about me.

Do you guys/girls experience this feeling, ever? I just want to feel like a teenager.

I'm stuck trying to decide between pursuing a social life or working my ass off to get into the school of my dreams. God, it's tough..

Eh, screw excessive work. Live a little.

I have no close group of friends to socialize with. I'm the random smart, intelligent black guy with a focus. The only one at my school for that matter.

I lost my childhood once I discovered mathematics and computer science. I've been stuck in the future since.

Sometimes I do wish I could have it back, because I'm only a sophomore in HS.

When you get to that point, its when you know you're not living how you want to live anymore.

Meh. I never worked hard in school my entire life. I go to Emory. Not the greatest school but one of the best. Want to go top 10? Yeah you will have to work..but don't be tricked into believing admissiojns is all about that.

I work hard, on things other than school. I don't have to try, but I know for my goals I have to amp it up.

That was me last year, freshman year. I had no group to be with. I guess I was unlucky in class schedules.

But not anymore. You have to actively seek it out.

I don't care so much for the teenager experience; I don't don't want to age, wither, and die. Unfortunately, death is one of the two absolutes in life.

It's more about achieving that ideal balance. I think.

are you guys really that bad when it comes to making friends or participating socially?

How can you not care about the teenager experience?

I had groups of friends all through elementary school, but I don't think that really counts, since everyone did. So, I had a good group in 8th and 9th grade, centered around 4 people but always open to others. Then, first Friday, first week of 10th grade, one of the 4 friends moved. Another one of the 4 was mostly there for the one who moved, so we were down to 2. That's not really a group. So there was no more fun :(.
I missed them, but I don't think I ever missed going out really, since it was only done to serve a purpose. I went out to be with my friends, not vice versa. And I was still very close with the other 1 in our "group" of 2. It was just that I, as well as the one who was mostly there for the one who moved, am not a "going out" type of person. Neither was the one who moved, really.
I guess I missed having a group. And still miss, even though all 4 of us have been able to get together since then. But I had one great friend, a few others I found more than passing good, and many acquaintances. It wasn't the same – it isn't the same – but it's quite all right. Especially since I don't really like fun.

Some of my old "friends" verbally abused me which is why (I think) I have low confidence sometimes when it comes to being social.

I mean, I have school friends, but I'm just missing a friend who I truly connect with and have fun with outside of school.

So... is anyone else here in a social group of 10+ people?

I don't mean like BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, but like a normal social group.

^ yes
10 char

used to be in a group of about 20 people, haha.

uh why do you guys count your friends lol...that's sort of...yeah...
it's not the number that defines them but their characteristics and qualities and this is just for a social group.

when speaking about friends in general, pretty much everybody should be your friend if you talk to everyone and socialize normally (with the exception of those few people who you dislike)

^Oh, we're talking about those sorts of friends? I call those guys acquaintances.

I have 300 facebook friends

^I have 640!
Which reminds me, I need to go delete some of those guys.
