I got into Rutgers Business/Arts&Sciences school, and still working on my portfolio for Mason. Rutgers was my safety school.

My #1 right now is Syracuse because Newhouse offers the two things that I really want to do, graphic design, and video with a business/communications side to it. But I’m slowing realizing that I’m probably not going to get in, and even if I do, I probably won’t be able to pay for it unless financial aid brings it down to at least $15k/yr.

I would go to Rutgers if I don’t find a solution for Syracuse, but I really want to study video/film too which I don’t think Rutgers offers.

My original #2 was RIT, but after reading how its 75% guys, and lacking in social activities, I’m going to apply to RIT, but if I get in, I’m only going to go if I don’t get into Mason at Rutgers.

I’m currently doing some research on Ithaca and Rowan if anyone wants to give some input but yeah

So now I need another school to apply to that offers graphic design and video.

You apply for aid at the same time you apply for admission.
You only have to attend the school if you applied ED (Early Decision). Anything else (Early Action, Regular Decision) is designed so that you can compare offers - students apply to several schools, then look at the financial aid packages, whether they got into the Honors College…
Ithaca is extremely well-known for video, film, communication… Great college town.
In the SUNY system, you have Oswego, Plattburgh, New Paltz, and Oneonta holding their own for communication.

Even if you are accepted ED, if the aid package is unaffordable you can be released from the ED agreement. Just let them know right away that you need to be let out of that agreement.
