My oldest D will be starting at CAS this fall. My youngest D has wanted to attended Wharton since she was about 12. She will be a junior at boarding school this year.

Can any Wharton students give me a primer on the specific Wharton programs you can apply to at the school?

Which are the most difficult to get into (Huntsman)? Which are the easiest? My D had an internship at Stanford this summer and learned a lot about philanthropy/funding non-profits and this is one of the things she’d like to explore at the school.

you can apply to:

wharton, general

the huntsman program in international studies + business (joint with college)

the jerome fisher program in management + technology (joint with engineering)

the nursing-healthcare management program (joint with the nursing school)

the vagelos life sciences and management program (joint with college)

each of the joint degree programs is more difficult to get into than the single degree, though they are also self-selective (a lot more work required to complete degree requirements)

Also, Wharton now offers a secondary concentration in “Social Impact & Responsibility” which pulls from courses that would be relevant to your daughter’s interests. Furthermore, I’d say she should investigate the possibility of a dual-degree opportunity aside from the coordinated programs mentioned above. Should she be interested in non-profits of a particular sector/purpose, supplementing with an additional major or minor could be beneficial. Just a thought.

Great. Thanks for the info on “Social Impact & Responsibility” and the list of programs available through Wharton.
