I need advice on my situation please?

I am busy in the summer but a lot of my free time I like to relax. I have the sat book. And I’m looking to get at least a 1850 on my SAT. I got a 140 on my first psat and I was overwhelmed, for the 2nd one I got a 162 without any preparation, I’m planning to get a 180 on the 3rd one and get a 1900 on my sat. I have a 3.7 GPA and it is both unweighted and weighted due to my school being a music school and there’s only 2 ap classes, which both are impossible due to it overlapping with my extracurricular concert choir. So I want to go to NYU as the ideal choice and maybe even Cornell, my family is extremely poor, my parentscand i had tough lives and we are Asian. So my question is : do I have chance with these 2 colleges? And what should I do to reach my goal for SAT? Go through the whole book from the beginning? I nearly got a 70 on my math but close to 50 on both reading and writing on my 2nd PSAT so I need help on these…

Unfortunately, a 3.7 GPA is considered a little low, (from what I hear), for NYU or Cornell so I would suggest really studying up for you SAT and trying to get over a 2000. I know it’s summer and all you want to do is relax while you can, (I’m in the same boat), but if you want to strengthen your chances of admission, I’d shoot for the highest score you can get on your SAT’s. I’d also look in to getting a few more extracurriculars that maybe you could fit around your choir schedule like community service or something else that can add to your list.

Yea my hs is small but idk how the transition would be for 11th grade but I’m trying to get a 3.8 in my junior year

3.7 is not necessarily too low, much depends on the level of classes you are taking, but your SAT goal is not ideal. To prep for SAT, read the pinned threads in the SAT-preparation subforum

Meanwhile learn how financial aid works, so you can apply to schools where you have a chance to get in and get the costs covered. Then you can throw a couple of super selective schools in the mix. First make sure that you have a decent place to go that you can afford.

Yea NYU is a great choice since I can live near there.

But what can I do with my blue book? What’s the best way to get my SAT up?
