Well, I’m looking for a college where it has a good political science/sociology programs! I want to find a college that has a better education program than my current school! My following stats isn’t incredible comparing to the other people here at CC, but it would help you guys to tell me what colleges should I think about applying to!

Current Status:1st year college student at Mount Mercy College (private 4 years college)

ACT:20 (what a bummer!)

Volunteer Work:I help out some teachers at the sunday school I used to go to!

Extracurricular Activity:N/A

Took a lot of AP classes and a few advanced classes in high school!

I’m a bilingual in 2 different languages!

Note:I probably would get a good recommendation from my Sociology professor!

Do well at MMC and no one will care about your ACT (test to predict frosh grades; well, you’ll have real frosh grades). Get mostly As and then return to this site w/ more details about what you’re looking for, locale, etc.

I want to attend an university! The location that I want to be at got to have a lot of different places to go to for entertainment! Like it has something always going on 24/7 in a city or something! When should I start applying for colleges, so I don’t have to go to MMC for a 2nd year?

Have you looked in St. Louis University or Loyola in Chicago? Remember that even though your ACT was rather average, your grades in college will be critical in admissions decisions. Good luck to you!

How about public university that has a good environment?! Within the city with a lot of things to do! Also, with diversity like at least 5% of each race! I need at least 3 safeties! Knowing that it has a good poltical science program and a good sociology program! A good-looking dorm would be nice as well!

It would help if you stated a regional preference. But here goes re Politics/Sociology…

Very competitive admissions but transfer students may have a better chance than high school applicants;
Washington University (MO)
Columbia University (Columbia College)
U of Virginia
Northwestern University
Wesleyan University
U of Minnesota-Twin Cities

And honestly, many urban public colleges, although less well known, offer solid politics and sociology studies.

U of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
U of Alabama-Birmingham
Richard Stockton College (NJ)
Rutgers University-New Brunswick (NJ)

It’s also very often easier to transfer once you have two years of studies completed. Many colleges require that students with fewer than 30 units completed meet freshman admissions requirements - including ACT/SAT scores.
