I need help picking!!!

Okay, so i got into Seton Hall and Rowan, and I need more reasons to convince my family why i should go to Seton Hall. My family is leaning towards Rowan and I want to attend Seton Hall. I plan to study Bio or Pre-Med. Which one would help me get into John Hopkins? Everyone is welcome to answer!! Please I need this at the soonest!!!1

That’s not how it works. Getting into a medical school such as Johns Hopkins requires more than just a school you go to. Admission to ANY medical school is assessed on numerous factors, not limited to a very competitive GPA in your core science classes, overall gpa, significant achievements in community leadership and advocacy, research, a killer personal statement, excellent MCAT score (on the previous format at least a 35/40 to even be considered), and volunteering.

Check out studentdoctornetwork because it really seems that you aren’t too well-read on what medicine really demands. You don’t have to be a bio or science major to get into med-school. @dontask

Are they both equally affordable? To make sure, run the numbers here:

Med school is ridiculously expensive, so save your money while you can by attending an more affordable place.

Med school admissions is based on your undergrad GPA, your MCAT score, your letters of recommendation, and medical job shadowing/volunteer hours. So go to a college where you feel confident that you can get good grades and good preparation for the MCAT.

JHU for med school would be nice, but what really matters is where you do your residency after finishing med school. And you can get a good residency no matter which med school you graduate from, Don’t worry about that just yet.

Ahhhh makes sense!!! thanks I’ll be sure to do my research!

Alright!! I’m worrying myself too much lately with all this. Thanks for your reassurance!! @happymomof1

I don’t know anything about Seton Hall, but I can comment on Rowan.

Rowan is known for their STEM programs, specifically engineering.

I got in there as a Biophysics major (planning to follow a pre-med track) with ~$15,000 in merit aid, so I have given it some serious consideration. Have you visited the school? Rowan has a very nice campus. Spacious, new, and clean–a bit of a suburban/almost rural feel, especially in contrast to Philly just 30 minutes away. One thing to consider is that Rowan’s School of Medicine is in a very shady part of NJ. I took the bus right past it and it was literally in the ghetto. Thus, research opportunities at their med school might not be all that fun. Other than that, I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t make pre-med at Rowan work to your advantage.

As with all pre-med tracks, it is what you make of it. Med schools want to see diligence, individuality, and scholarship in their applicants. How you choose to portray yourself is not totally dependent on what UG school you attend, but rather how you have used opportunities to develop your character.

Best of luck in making your choice!
