I do LD debate, and recently i debated someone who had law and order as a value, and i will be debating this person again, how can i defeat law and order when my value is societal good, and what is law and order??? thanks for helping

I’m not sure what format the debate will be in, but anytime you want to debate against law and order go with civil liberties. For instance, wiretaps are good for order but should they be used without a warrant? Most people say no (not including our President). If everybody was restricted to holding one viewpoint or if there was a state-sponsored religion or if racists were executed it might be good for law and order. However, society is better off without these laws. I really don’t understand your question but I hope that helped.

Law and order is only a means to an end, that end is the social good. I think it would be harder to prove the inverse. Sometimes the law and order must be set aside (as in the case of the civil rights movement or the civil war).

thank u guys for helping me out, i kinda get it now,
