I need help with majors. Which one should I be?

<p>I got my AP scores and I didn’t do so well. :frowning: I need help with deciding a major, I am going to start college this year. This was my first year taking AP if that means anything.</p>

<p>I only got a 3 in Macro-Economics, 2 in Mirco-Economics and a 1 in Physics. I want to be an Engineer but now, seeing my physics score, I do not want to mess up my life. I want to transfer into Cornell, UPenn or Stanford (Stanford isn’t realistic however) and change my life. If I get low grades in ANYTHING, then I will screw everything up. I don’t care what I do in life, as a job, as long as I have a okay paying job and go to a top tier university. I need help deciding a major. I know I am strong in math, even though my Physics score says otherwise. I want to major in something math related, which is why i choose Engineering, but now I see I cannot handle the rigorous course work due to my Physics score. Nobody will take this thread seriously because most of the people are geniuses on this website with perfect scores. :frowning: Sorry if I didn’t type this correctly, I cannot stop crying and the tears are burning my eyes.</p>

<p>I do not want to mess up my life anymore, and I do not have time to waste on a major I cannot handle. So I narrowed down these choices:</p>

<p>1) Economics major (quant or statistician economist)
2) Math major
3) Stick with Electrical Engineering and study every single second of every single day of my life so I can get straight A’s in Physics courses.</p>

<p>Also what universities have respectable math major in general?</p>

<p>Which one would be the best for me or do you guys have any other majors to recommend for me? If more information is required I will post it.</p>

<p>Are you headed to college this fall, and hoping to transfer next year? Go see an advisor at the college where you are starting this fall, and talk about which classes you should be taking this fall.
Do not let your AP scores determine your major or your career plans. You should also stop by the career center at the college you are attending this fall and ask about interest surveys and other ways to explore your potential major and career options.</p>

<p>I agree with siliconvalleymom. Try different classes while working on your gen eds. Frankly those majors will be severe challenges for you.</p>

<p>I don’t think AP tests should determine your life plan. It is just a test!
How well did you do in math and physics courses? Did you struggle a lot to get through them?
If you want be an engineer, then study engineering and be prepared to work harder in courses that don’t come naturally to you. And be prepared to get help at the school’s academic resource center, participate in group study sessions etc.
And get over the obsession with “prestige” in college. Go to the school that fits your needs, especially the financial ones.</p>

<p>I didn’t struggle at all, Its just I’m horrible at taking tests. I have test anxiety. REALLY bad test anxiety</p>

<p>Try computer science. Its really fun and is almost purely math. I am awesome at math but terrible at physics. Plus i love programming.
If ur heart is set for an engineer, then all i can say is that u should work harder.
You could also go for a math major. Actuators make more than $70k a yeaar on avg</p>
