In the xy-plane, line (L) passes throught the origin and is perpendicular to the line 4x+y=k,
k is constant, if lines intersect at point(t,t+1) what is the value of t?
Slope of the line 4x+y = k is -4, so the slope of line L is 1/4. Then L is the line y = (1/4)x since L passes through the origin.
Since (t, t+1) is on L, we have t+1 = (1/4)t, or t = -4/3.
