I need MORE

If I find my financial aid package lacking are there any negatives about asking for more? Since I’ve sent in my financial data FAFSA etc. my parents have taken out a large 200k loan to pay for house renovations. This is a legitimate reason to ask for more, right?

Uh, no. That is a life-style choice. Your parents, knowing you had college coming up, chose to put that money into a house. That’s not the school’s fault. You can ask for more but I sure wouldn’t use that reason.

Most schools have no interest in helping your parents renovate their house, which is what they would be doing by increasing your financial aid. Financial aid is for people who do not have access to funds - if your parents can qualify for that kind of loan, financial aid people would question why they did not take out loans for your education.

I don’t think that loan is going to help you. They COULD have taken out a loan to pay for college. Choices, choices.

I need MORE

Really, don’t we all?
