I need my loan money to come fast or I'm in deep trouble!

Hi,

I am currently going to school and selling cars at the same time. It’s very difficult. I go to Florida State College at Jacksonville. The training program is very intense for this car selling program and it’s taking up a lot of time, and I"m not getting paid much for it at all. I started my 8 week accelerated courses on February 29th 2016. I talked to my financial aid counselor last week, and she said last time she checked loan disbursements were supposed to go out on the 28th of March.

The money was originally going to get the money on a refund card but I changed that option several weeks ago. I called up this company that FSCJ gets their loan disbursements through called, “Higher One” and did this several weeks ago and changed it to where my loans and grants would be shipped directly to my bank account.

My biggest problem is that this job is paying so little that my car insurance has lapsed and if I don’t pay it soon my license will be suspended and I will lose my job selling cars. I need the money to come by like April 6th at the latest. Do you think it will come in time?

When did you apply for this loan? Shouldn’t it have been disbursed at the beginning of the semester, back in January?

No, I applied for it later. The class didn’t even start until February 29th. It was an 8 week mid-semester class. The financial aid lady told me it was most likely going to be disbursed February 28th. However, they said it might take 3 days longer because I chose to get it disbursed directly to my bank account. I just need the money by like August 6th or so.

Really no advice from anyone?

Call whoever is disbursing it directly and find out when it will be there. I would not mention your car insurance lapsing. Politely ask to speak to a supervisor and see if anything can be done to expedite it.

If your FA counselor said it was supposed to go out March 28 why would you expect it in your bank account today?

Some of us work…that is likely why you didn’t get responses in the middle of the day.

Call your school. They have already told you that the money will be there March 28. Not sure why you think it should be there sooner for you,

They said it MIGHT disburse that day

I work too. I work 55 hours a week

I am sorry for your situation. The only ones who can answer your question, though, work at your school. Please contact them & ask them to carefully review your aid. There may be something wrong with the loan record that is keeping it from disbursing. Make sure you get in touch with someone who can make sure all is well & tell you when your loan will disburse.

College is closed this entire week for spring break

Just because the academic programs are closed…does NOT mean the rest of the offices are closed. In fact, it is HIGHLY likely the financial aid and admissions offices are open since this is their busiest time of the year sending out acceptances, and financial aid packages.

Contact them.

Call the loan company who is sending the money, they are the ones that can tell you when it will be there. If they cannot or will not help, then get your FA counselor to get them on the phone to see if there is a hold up.

Nope. Went by the financial aid office. It is closed.

Another thing is Im in loan forbearance right now. Im not sure if the company knows Im back in school. Will this stall the loan money from coming?

How are any of us supposed to know the inner workings of the bank/agent giving you the loan. Call them and ask them.

Maybe it’s time to look for a new job. If you’re driving around without insurance and get into an accident, losing your job will be the least of your worries.

Yeah, I know, its a lousy job. But I realize what could happen if I dont get my insurance back fast and get in an accident. Thats one of the first things I was gonna use this loan money for until I could find a new job. Thats why it is so imperitive that this money comes quick!

Is this a federal student loan? There is no company to call, the schools gets the funding when it gets it. Get a different job. Get a temp job that pays by the day.

Yes, its a federal student loan

Go to a local restaurant- today- and see if you can get hired for a shift tomorrow. You’ll start tomorrow, you’ll quickly amass your tips and be able to pay your car insurance.

None of us can predict when your loan money will show up. Do not operate a motor vehicle without insurance. That is a bad plan.
