You should maybe get leadership positions in your extracurricular activities, study really hard to do well on your SAT, and maybe get involved in a sport if you like one.

I don’t know how much of a chance you have in getting into NYU, but nobody on CC can really give a professional evaluation (unless they can, but I think most people speak from experience & knowledge from the Internet, etc.)

when u hit college confidential theres a section called “counseling” for 89 dollars he’ll give you chances to your schools, read one of your essays, and counsel you on waht to do. However, with a average that low, its obvious he will tell you ur chances are bleak and to be competitive you have to hit the 2200’s and higher if you want a chance at NYU.

i think it depends on your majors and your extracurriculars, but mostly what you’re gonna major in? unless you want to do something related to performing arts and you have an amazing performance record, i think no for NYU.

in which case you would still have to obviously get your SAT high

i know a girl who got into some form of the performing arts program in NYU and her grades weren’t all that great. but for other majors, students do tend to have waaay more competitive grades & sat scores

well its basically to be a physicians assistant,buisness,pre-med…see if i get the opportunity i wont let it go to waste. If there are any suggestions i would love to her them.

I’ve always wondered… is it possible to apply with an arts major and then completely change your mind once at the school? Question is directed at eugenia, here. :]

murkywater, it really depends on the college, but for most – yes, you can. of course, if you want to change to a major that is competitive to get into, you might have some trouble doing that. and if you want to do that at school like NYU, getting in as an arts major will require portfolios, proof of extracurriculars, a list of shows, etc.

but yea, every college does it differently. i went to a bunch in LA just last week and they all had different policies, so if you want to find out about a specific one, call them i guess?

obviously good schools offer a change in major, but you’ll have to do well once you’re in if you want to switch to something you just couldn’t get into in the first place.
