Around here (Calif) “IEP” means more than “extra time”. You should check out the LD /ADHD forum for ideas about schools that support kids with learning disabilities.

PS; My D is a scout of 12 years too, and is currently a counselor at a residential girl scout camp! Best wishes!

well i have a mild form of iep and have a learning problem it take me longer to understand it i am worried i will not get in to a good school i will check that out

Be careful how you think of “good”. What’s “good” for some folks on college confidential may not be good for everybody!

Christa, do check out this site: http://www.college-/learning_disabilities.ht.

Talk to the person who is in charge of the LD program at the colleges that you find are in your area. ALso look at some local colleges. What is important is to find a school that can give you the support you need so that you can have a good college experience.

Have you talked to your parents about their thoughts and what they can pay for your education. That comes into play very heavily. I think you and they should visit your GC this fall, and discuss some options that your school may have in mind.

I know a young man doing very well who went to Curry College in Massachusetts some years ago, and he loved the experience there. He too had a mild learning disability that really affected his testing.

http://www.college-/learning_disabilities.htm trying the site again. Keep in mind this is just a generic list.

Umm it is not letting me put in a website. Google “colleges with learning support” and you will find this list

i go to a school that caters to smart kids badly and my GC is terrible.
i dont know anything about college my parent never went and don’t know how to guide me money is not a problem for me just getting accepted is i don’t know what steps i should be taking now

Make sure your parents know what colleges cost. Still make that appointment with your GC and parents. Maybe have a teacher who knows you well be there too. Since you are a first generation college aspirant, you should get as much help as possible from those who know you well.

"caters to smart kids badly "

off topic, but what does that mean?

If money is not a problem you we already way ahead of the game! But I agree; you better check that out with your folks.

he never meets with me he doesn’t help me only smarter kids at my school

Ahh! Well, you are in the right place.
