The AP test is quickly approaching and aside from the ICE table and naming molecules I literally know nothing. I want to earn a 5, or at least a 4. How do I go about achieving this?

I have the Princeton Review, Barron’s and Kaplan books, all of which I have yet to open.

Open them and start reading.

Agreed with the above poster. Read it and do work.

Start reading those books!

^agree with the posters above. Also try AP Central to do the FRQ problems.

Dont open Barron’s!

“I need to learn AP Chemistry in a month”

from scratch? and you want to get a 5?? good luck with that.

You don’t. I see no way you could possibly manage a 4 or 5 in a month of studying.

You mean from the very beginning? If so, very very likely you won’t get a 5.

Expect to spend 20 hours a week on it. Otherwise you’re screwed. There’s a lot of information.

*at least. If you’re not a genius, 30+

Would it be terrible to just take the test next year?

Hey, guys, dont be too harsh. I know a person who got a five from a week of studying. INTENSE, yet it paid off with a 5.

Chococookie, you can achieve the impossible if you have a strong will and devote all of your free time studying from now on. Have hope… as Red says in Shawshank Redemption… “Hope sets you free, fear holds you prisoner…”

Believe in yourself and you can maximize your potential. Believe me, you can do this.

Thrill3rnit3// No chococookie has at least something, to begin with… at least he knows ICE chart and nomenclature of molecules - let’s not be too extreme here.

^That’s like walking into a chess game and saying “well, at least I know that the night moves two spaces up and one space over.”

^^ more like walking into a chess game and saying, “well, at least I know that knight is spelled with a K” ;)

@benhpark: 5 from a week of studying sure is amazing, but not everyone here can do it. Just the amount of material needed to cover is intense, plus you also have to do practice problems and FRQs, which can take away time that should be used for learning the material (in the OP’s situation).

Why is everyone so skeptical? I finished the whole Calculus AB in five days. That’s not even a week. Then I was tested w/ model exams from tpr, barrons, and kaplan, WITHOUT LOOKING AT ANSWERS OF COURSE, ALL TIMED. Results? All 5’s. Why can’t you do the same thing for AP Chem? Any reasons? I’d still contend that at least one son of a ***** can handle AP Chem by cramming.

Because I don’t actually believe you.

And even if you are somehow actually telling the truth, the fact that some person somewhere (who most likely has an eidetic memory) can get a 5 on the AP test after studying for a week is kinda useless. There are tons of very smart people who simply could not ever do that.

Benhpark, whether or not you are telling the truth, not everyone is a genius. And there are so many factors that can take away one’s time from studying such as other hw, sports, other ec’s.

^^ and life (in general). I can’t imagine going straight home after school to learn (not even review, but actually learn the material from scratch) AP Chem until 2 AM in the morning.
